Thanks and Giving: Bakersfield Memorial Hospital is thankful for YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving week from all of us here at the Lauren Small Children’s Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital! We are excited for this time of year and love what it stands for. It is a time for Thanks and Giving! We have seen many people helping raise money for kids in need here at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. The kids here are so thankful and appreciate your giving hearts.

You make miracles happen for kids like Lexie Johnson.

In December of 2018, Lexie wasn’t feeling well. She had no energy and her parents thought she was getting sick. Lexie went to visit her brother and upon returning home, her parents realized something was terribly wrong so they rushed her to the Lauren Small Children’s Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital.

Little did they know this saved her life; she was only 8-hours away from going into a coma. After running tests, the doctor told Lexie and her parents that Lexie has Type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis was overwhelming, but the care, education, and support they received helped them adjust to their new way of life. Lexie does not let Type 1 slow her down and she inspires everyone who knows her.

With this time of year being full of Thanks and Giving, the staff here at our Lauren Small Children’s Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital wanted you to know that we are thankful for YOU this holiday season.

Share with us what YOU are thankful for in the comments below or on social media and use the hashtag #ThanksgivingMiracles.
