Passing Of Our Friend Arne Sorenson, President and CEO of Marriott International

With heavy hearts, we share that Arne Sorenson, president & CEO of Marriott International, has unexpectedly passed away. In the company’s announcement, his passing follows a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Arne leaves behind a powerful legacy and is most admired for his leadership, honesty and integrity. Marriott was the first corporate partner of CMN Hospitals which originated in the 80s – today, Marriott has raised upwards of $140 million for our member hospitals and stood tall amid the pandemic by donating PPE and a safe place to rest to our network’s frontline workers.

Arne also mirrored the same passion for philanthropy as the hotel’s original founder, Mr. Marriott – proud to be elbow-deep in ice cream serving root beer floats during Marriott’s Root Beer Float Day fundraiser or quickly embracing the childlike energy that radiated from Teddy during our Tough Questions series shoot. Both offering a glimpse into his ‘spirit to serve.’

We’re saddened by the loss of a great leader, but we are thankful for his example of devotion to family and dedication to kindness. We encourage you to share your fond memories and well-wishes with the Marriott family – these are the times when we need each other most.

Arne, you will be missed.
